The Monroe County Breastfeeding Coalition is recruiting volunteers to assist with the 2012 Lactation Station at the Monroe County Fair. The Lactation Station provide a quiet tent for families to rest, nurse their baby, get a drink of water, rock their baby, or change a diaper.
Fair week is July 28-August 4, 2012. There are also volunteer spots leading up to fair week.
Here are the opportunities available:
Poster Plasterers—take our lactation station posters around to various doctor’s offices, businesses, etc for promotion of the lactation station. We are currently in process of getting sponsors for the station. Our goal is to distribute them the first week of July. We have AN INCREDIBLE VOLUNTEER who has agreed to coordinate this. We will send a list of volunteers on to her. Need: 3 more volunteers
Tent Set Up—we need volunteers to go to the fairgrounds before the fair and get things set up. Your responsibilities would be: setting up chairs, taking signs around the fairgrounds, posting posters at the fairgrounds, etc. The more volunteers we have the faster this goes. Thursday, July 26th, 1:00pm. Need: 3 volunteers
Tent Take Down—on Sunday, August 5th, we are doing the above only in reverse. Time: TBA
Tent Volunteers—your task would be welcoming families to the Lactation Station. You don’t need any special skill, just be friendly and supportive of breastfeeding. If you want to volunteer with a friend, please let me know as we put 2 folks in there per shift.

August 4: 12-3p, 3-6p, 6-9p

When you email, please include name, email, phone number and how you found out about the Lactation Station (ie BABS, LLL, IU Health Bloomington Hospital, WIC, etc). Also, let Robin know if you are signing up with a “buddy” so she can be sure to get you together. We recognize the groups who send volunteers.
As always, all volunteers will get a free t shirt! For those of you who know others who would be interested in helping out, please pass this on.
