Prenatal Yoga

Instructors: Allison Distler, Erica Rubis, Georg’ann Cattelona, & Anastacia Corbit-Clarkson

Tuesdays, 5:30-6:30 pm
Thursdays, 5:30-6:30 pm
Saturdays, 10:00-11:00 am

The ancient art of yoga, as modified for pregnancy, is a safe, effective way to exercise and prepare for labor and birthing. In addition, yoga helps with the common complaints of pregnancy, giving you more energy and increasing your overall sense of well-being. Yoga also teaches breathing and relaxation techniques that become a natural part of your response to stress. These techniques will aid you greatly during labor and birth, and also during your new life as a mother. Classes are on-going; you may join a class at any time. No previous yoga experience is required. Each session provides an opportunity for: gentle stretching, increasing body awareness, sharing tips and ideas for coping with labor and birth, and practicing relaxation techniques. Please wear comfortable clothing. Focus is on body awareness, increasing flexibility, endurance, and learning conscious training techniques.

Postpartum Yoga

Instructor: Allison Distler
Mondays, 12:30-1:15pm

Are you looking to return to your yoga routine but finding it hard to practice as a new(er) mom? Looking for an opportunity to gently exercise and stretch your body after your baby’s birth? BABS’ Postpartum Yoga classes provide you a chance to attend yoga while providing accommodations as a new(er) mom- need to nurse during class? No problem! Take a seat on one of our couches or on your mat and feed your baby. Your baby is fussing? It’s not a problem to soothe him/her in our space, bouncing on a ball or walking the floor with your babe.

We generally have hot water for tea (we have a large variety) and brewed coffee.

You may bring your own mat, however BABS provides mats, blocks, pillows and straps. We recommend you arrive 10 minutes before class to set up your space, grab some water or settle in.

Postpartum Yoga is great for your body, but it’s also a great opportunity to practice conscious relaxation you can use in everyday situations. You’ll also meet other mamas, which is a great way to build your community.

This fun class provides key bonding methods between parent and child, while strengthening their growing muscles. Poses and instruction for adults will also be given. Class is 45 minutes. 6 Week Summer Series Schedule
Saturday series: June 2-July 7 11:30-12:30pm
Tuesday series: July 17-August 21 12-1pm

Birth can be like a marathon and Dancing for Birth(TM) prenatal/postpartum dance classes prepare you for the challenge. You’ll become stronger, more agile, more at ease with your body and both mentally & physically ready to embrace your unique birth experience. You’ll learn moves inspired by Belly dance, African dance, Latin dance and interpretive movement. It’s a feel-good workout that challenges yet relaxes you.

At the same time you’ll be learning valuable childbirth preparation skills and natural pain coping techniques that will build your confidence in your won birthing ability. Did you know that there is an optimal position for your baby to be in when labor begins and you can help assure that position? Dancing for Birth(TM) participants report experiencing low levels of discomfort, few or no interventions, brief labors and high levels of satisfaction during their births.

Do you have a newborn? You’ll regain your pre-pregnancy shape and tone more quickly when you attend Dancing for Birth(TM). Bring a sling or carrier and wear your baby while you dance! Babies love the motion of dancing and are easily soothed by being held while you dance.
